"Wonderland" definitely for me-as anyone who remembers my posts on the old forum will testify, I despise this song for the execrable load of cheesy 80's synth nonsense that it is (apologies to all fans of the song).
Regards,
Crosswires. _________________ Everything's buzz buzz, Everything's beep beep |

I've never been all that keen on 'Deliver Us From the Elements'. |

Elements? You mean it's not "elephants"?
Oh, well, then it's a stupid song. I'm with you! _________________ Les Kendreaux: doing pretty much as we please since 1983. |

Your list astounds me, Mr Tein. But that's okay. I'm sure someone else will be astounded by the fact that I can't stand the singsongy beginning to the verses of "Ballet For A Rainy Day" |

...what's this? Bungalow? Travel's In Nihilon!? Omnibus!!? CROCODILE!?!? Pretty much all the songs cited so far are fan bleeding tastic!- what's wrong with you people!? (this is the first time i've ever used an emoticon, just in case peeps fink i'm genuinely up for fisticuffs! I'm also aware that explaining why you've used an emoticon completely goes against the whole point of using them in the first place, but i think i've managed to open a little window into my brain addled world for you all to peer in & point & stare...)
...no one so far has mentioned 'Countdown To Christmas Party Time' which is far & away the most dispensible track they've done to my ears- the very definition of b-side filler... _________________ ...we're all waving flags now... |

"Leisure". Worst beginning of an XTC song, too slow, lazy riff, too much shouting... |

Also think that Leisure is a rather weak song. But I never skip it when I listen to ES. However when I listen to WS I always skip In another life, Standing in for Joe, My brown guitar (like the demo better), Boarded up and Wounded horse. That's a bit sad, isn't it? _________________ lokrume |

Agree. Though I understand the principle behind the technique, I can't relate to it melodically. I always skip this song, even moreso because I can't wait to listen to It's Nearly Africa. _________________ Where are we? |

I adore all of Colin's post-Nonsuch offerings, because I completely relate to the middle-aged-couple-point-of-view lyrics. He speaks directly to my current situation and state of mind. I'll listen to In Another Life and Frivolous Tonight 20 times in a row when the mood strikes me.
This perhaps explains why I enjoy John Lennon's Double Fantasy and Milk and Honey songs more than anything else he wrote post-Beatles. Just Like Starting Over, Beautiful Boy, Woman, Watching the Wheels, Nobody Told Me, Borrowed Time are FAN-bleeding-TASTIC! _________________ Where are we? |
