No, not the actual band, just media mentions or hearing them at a business. I thought there was a thread like this on this new forum, as there was on the old forum, but I can't find it, so excuse me if this is a duplicate thread.

Yesterday's Chicago Tribune (Sunday, August 17th) had an article on the actor Rainn Wilson. Rainn plays Dwight Schrute, the nerdy sidekick to the boss, on the U.S. version of "The Office." He is going to be starring as a drummer in his nephew's rock band in the movie "The Rocker," and the article states:

"Having learned drumming during the short pre-production period for 'The Rocker,' Wilson realized that he'd happily throw over his acting career to become a rock star, though his tastes run more toward the Clash and XTC than the new movie's hair metal bands."

Wilson graduated from New Trier High School in Wilmette, Illinois and is 42 years old.

There's this little watched but amusing cable show called "The Middleman" on ABC Family. It's kind of a cross between X-Files and Get Smart. Funny sci-fi and fantasy investigations. Part of the humor is to drop as many pop cultural references as possible into an episode. Mostly sci-fi references (this week was packed with Dr. Who companion namechecks), but occasionally other stuff as well.

This week our plucky, wisecracking, hip and beautiful female lead exclaims "Bono, Buddha and the Wizard of Oz!"

XTC (and Andy especially) came up numerous times in this interview with Moe Berg of the Pursuit of Happiness (recorded last night):

That was pretty smart. But I suspect that the producers of this commercial don't have a clue of who XTC are. They probably just googled the song to get it right. Unless the producer was YOU, Per!!!! Mr. Green

If I had produced the commercial, well then the music should also have been by XTC...

Hmm, I checked the site more carefully and it seems like it is not about the boys from Swindon. But I find the dog-shirt very strange anyway...
