GO2......thrice today at work
i can't fault it....it's a beauty......the only album xtc never released a single from.....original release of course!
3 band member song credits and a bonus dub 12" to boot
beatown is defo in my xtc top ten.........the guitar solo was so good some french music show used it as their intro to live concerts series.... i've a devo show from late 78 early 79 with said track playing on the intro very weird.....
the albums so underated....there's some great guitar work by andy..especially on colin and barrys songs......he's sublime on super-tuff and i am the audience.....but then again barry and colin are incredible on this too......terry is as always top floor in the elevator and defo getting louder in the mix on this.......
i always thought the first great andy lyric i really noticed was on RED....."have you ever seen the colour iron turns when it rains" iloved that line as a kid.........i still love barrys two gems too....the first xtc songwriter to really use words as a weapon....without doubt if not an influence on andy defo healthy competition
battery brides barry versus battery brides dave?
a football analogy would result in a 5-5 draw i think, both utterley mesmerising live......apart from that song i think the rest of the tracks sounded better with barryxtc........i love xtc me _________________ it would all have been different if radios in motion had of been the second single and meccanik dancing (oh we go!) the fourth |

I haven't listened to much XTC in the past couple of months.. I did, however, wake up today in an 'orcoustical, must listen to AV1 whilst having my morning joe' kind of mood..
River of Orchids.. good to the last drip.. err, drop. _________________ It's your America - share your ideas:

I listened to AV1 on the journey home today - turned the volume way up for Greenman (how can you not?).
And then there's that wonderful pause after Your Dictionary, when one is anticipating Fruit Nut - what a fantastic song. Happy Birthday Colin. If this song was the only one you'd ever written, you'd still be a musical genius. _________________ I'm not a girly penguin, I'm not a girly penguin. |

Still playing Fossil Fuel... this, to the uninitiated, should be the entry point for any new fan IMO. The growth of the band moulded into 2 CDs... just brilliant!
I've also been playing a lot of my "Holy Trinity" of DW, BS & ES.
I've had quite a weekend filled with all things XTC. I'm one happy man! _________________

'the steve warren musical wank files'
there's some great stuff here thanks to big steve,Andy doing Iggy on sister midnight is a great vocal mimic and of course meccanik dancing, battery brides,super-tuff and new town animal with sax are just great live cuts of xtc go2 era......the radio's in motion from 77 makes me laugh with it's 'john the postman' intro.....what a character he was and anyone whose heard his acoustic classic 'toothache' will be giggling at that intro too.......i was after a 'radios in motion' with the radio dial live intro though this is even more bizarre
the dave stuff is great too.....scissor man is as cutting as its title and that ever so rare snippet of 'life is good in the greenhouse' was worth joining this forum for alone......oh baby bio greets the song from Andy
a great addition to the xtc ipod world......
is it just me or does everyone else find the steve warren stuff even more interesting than COMC ?? _________________ it would all have been different if radios in motion had of been the second single and meccanik dancing (oh we go!) the fourth |

What redwood is contributing to this forum is exactly the kind of thing that I sought out the original forum for, and I have to admit that I was disappointed that there wasn't much of it.
Keep it coming, redwood. You are renewing my passion for XTC's early music big time! _________________ "I've only ever gotten mad at people on the forum if they were Andy Partridge or anti-Semites." |

nice one Don.......great late night radio 4 voice on that by Andy!
'white music' and yes indeed this record was played loud.....spinning top is a tadpole of an xtc track but you know what? it still makes me jump and feel flippin' great......this may have evolved into 'stupidly happy' you know _________________ it would all have been different if radios in motion had of been the second single and meccanik dancing (oh we go!) the fourth |
