Now I love Talking Heads very much, one of my very favouritest bands ever. But there's a couple of lines in the lyrics to "Cities" that really irritate me:
"Did I forget, forget to mention Memphis?
Home of Elvis and the ancient Greeks"
Memphis is, or was, in bloody ancient Egypt, Dave! What were you thinking, what with you being so clever and that?
Are there any other examples of similar mistakes that people can think of? _________________ This has been a reasoned, sensitive post from the creators of BimbleWorld (TM). |

There's the U2 gaffe in "Pride" about MLK's assassination:
"Early morning, April 4th, a shot rings out in the Memphis sky..."
It actually happened at 6 pm. _________________ Yours sincerely, wasting away. |

Like the song "Ironic" having no irony?
Maybe they all look alike to David Byrne. |

Hey, Jeff, what's with you at the moment? You seem to be a bit tetchy, not like your fluffy self at all, me old love. Nothing I can put my finger on, but you're a bit grumpy here and there on the forum...wassup? _________________ This has been a reasoned, sensitive post from the creators of BimbleWorld (TM). |

Platty, didn't Andy's lyric refer to the Bay of Pigs (hence "piggy in the middle")? Wasn't that 1961? _________________ I'm not a girly penguin, I'm not a girly penguin. |

i like it on first play.....
i like the concept of the release too......there's a bizarre ornamental deluxe release that looks like something from my nana's sideboard too!
oh spidermage thanks for the history lesson i stand corrected ido remember reading that in chalkhills or the other song stories
i think the 'piggy in the middle' line is andy refering to the uk's geographical position to the usa and the then ussr though _________________ it would all have been different if radios in motion had of been the second single and meccanik dancing (oh we go!) the fourth |

"Some people say this town don't look good in snow
You don't care
I know."
America, "Ventura Highway"
Not only is this one of the all time worst written lyrics,
but it doesn't fucking snow in Ventura - or anywhere in LA for that matter. |

Why did this get moved? I think it belonged where Bimble originally posted it.
Poor Bimble, he'll think it was all a dream like that entire season of Dallas... _________________ "I've only ever gotten mad at people on the forum if they were Andy Partridge or anti-Semites." |
