I've mentioned my friend's band IfIHadaHifi before. They have a new album coming out in a few months and are trying a viral video campaign to get the word out.
Here's the first video for the song "Success, Success"
They are "NOISE Rock" and live up to the name. My friend DJ (AKA Dr. Akward -- all members have palindrome names) is also a tremendous singing drummer- although this isn't a live video, it may still give you an idea of how crazy talented he is.
I should also mention that Dixie is a guest vocalist, she's normally lead singer of shoegazer, Clue(do) inspired band

I've come to an important decision. I'm going to keep posting James Booker and/or Clint Maedgen videos until somebody wrestles me to the ground and makes me stop.

, does this mean that , we, harmless Forummers, that link to videos on Youtube with a copyright infringement, are guilty of the same 'crime' as the original poster, or the direct Youtube registrants who view same? Hmm.
Why don't we destroy Viacom? Any suggestions?

Certainly a disturbing development, but they say they're only gathering this info to prove the sheer numbers of people who watch copyrighted material vs. homemade material.
But wait, isn't any creative material technically copyrighted as soon as it's created? Shouldn't everybody sue YouTube??

Being that this thing happens all the time to people in my field, the reality is that you may sue those you violate your copyright, but unless you are a lawyer, your fees are greater than the penalties of infringement. That is if you find the individual and file against them.
Currently there is a very DANGEROUS piece of legislation in congress referred to as the orphan works act. It will essentially allow anyone to use copyrighted material, claiming that the creator has abandoned it. The maximum penalty is $200. So it is cheaper to steal an existing copyrighted artwork than commission an artist to make you a new one, further driving down the price of what we can sell and allowing others to profit from our life's work.
