Porcelain white is fab, classic, never goes out of style. Stainless steel, on the other hand, is a fad like avocado green & harvest gold. And if stainless steel is a look that lasts, what happened to the DeLorean?
Stainless steel also shows every grubby handprint and buttock smear (yes, this kitchen will get that crowded). Like black cars, stainless steel appliances look best in the shade.
However, you have total veto power. You don't want white? Fine. We'll find something else.
I suggest paisley or houndstooth. _________________ Up to here with it. Really. |

Who came up with the brilliant idea that you should put dirty dishes in the sink? That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. In order to wash the dishes, you have to take all the dirty dishes out of the sink. So why put them in there in the first place? Just leave them on the damn counter! Better yet, put them in the dishwasher or just wash them. But don’t put them in the sink. For if you do, I shall have to kill you.
And don’t just fill up the sink with hot sudsy water, put the dirty dishes in there, and say you’re “just letting them soak.” They don’t need to soak. What, did the dishes have a stressful day? Are you going to give them a back-rub and a glass of port after they soak? For Christ’s sake! If you put dirty dishes in the water, you must wash them. It’s okay if you don’t wash them immediately, but if you just leave them in the sink all night, and in the morning I have to stick my hand in that greasy basin of cold water to undo the plug, I shall have to kill you for your unpardonable sin. |

Further Kitchen Peeves:
1.Which of you miscegenates put the orange juice/milk carton/waterjug back in the fridge even though it was fucking empty?!???
2. Apart from Mr. Simpleton's laudable diatribe against the leaving of dishes to 'soak', which of you dopes left the dishes on the rack to 'drain'? How much water do you think needs to run off them? Why don't we build a levee round the friggin' rack?
3. Question: Why can't I open the garbage-bin swing lid? Answer: Cos some ringpiece was too lazy to pull out the full bag, and jammed some big empty plastic container in the top!!
4. As above except: Who filled the recycling bin with cardboard boxes
without breaking them apart? Nice recycling bin, 100% full, 99% of which is fresh air.
5: The Continual Game of Utensil Musical Chairs: In other words, you can never find a pot, pan, dish, casserole, measuring jug, chopping board or grater in the same cupboard twice in a row. _________________ And what made me think we're any better,

I call it 'air drying.'

Air drying is actually more hygenic than drying with a cloth.
But, the art to good washing up is...
1) Clean as much crap off the plates to begin with. Rinse with a little water to clear off more.
2) Place them to one side.
3) Using water as hot as you can stand, and with a little detergent, just wash a single thing at a time, and if you have a smaller mid drainer that you can fill with clean, hot water, rinse the soapy water off, and place to dry. (The hotter the water, the better it will dry).
4) If you have to wipe, I use kitchen towels if the wiping up cloths are soiled.
Sorry - a dirty kitchen is one of my pet peeves as well! _________________
