I've used Opera, it's alright. I believe they were the first to effectively use tabbed browsing but they did something I didn't like during an update last year (can't remember what) and I don't use it for anything now.

Thinking about browser differences yesterday inspired me to look up the current state of Netscape. Remember when everyone used Netscape Navigator? I remember well what a debacle Netscape 6 was (apparently forced out before it was ready). I guess the 9.0 series in '07 was the final version of it and now AOL doesn't support it anymore (they bought them out and ran it into the ground in the late 90's). I guess Netscape did breed Mozilla however- Netscape 6 was the first Mozilla based system.

I have been to this APE forum, and I am impressed with the top half.
However, the bottom half is difficult to fathom. Basically, "Love and Hate" and everything underneath is incompehensible to me.*
Furthermore, the internal inconsistencies of this bottom half are intolerable (I find all inconsistency intolerable). For example, imagine my dismay when I realized that, despite the general tone of discourse on the forum, Tante Tein's "agony" column is actually designed to decrease agony! It just doesn't make sense!

Kommt hier jetzt die emotikonischen. Razz Razz Razz

*A professional conferring with her colleague recently said that I "span several octaves of the autism scale." It is true that I am very literal-minded, it is difficult for me to read the emotions of others, and I have no sense of irony. However, there are rules against such professional breaches. I would have punished her, but I was a little tied up at the moment.

The Ape Forum is really an Ape artist's page, and the discussion areas seem shoved in at the bottom like an afterthought. Spastic Minnow made some suggestions early on that would have been an improvement imo, and the flame wars began. I just don't buy that many cds anymore, or I could collect all of them and discuss them on the top half. I am sure most all of the Ape artists are great, but most of us came to the Idea Forum because of XTC, and the only sections pertaining to them are for the Dukes and the Warbles (which have already been out for a while now.)

I would say Pugwash is an exception, I will be getting all those Ape versions when some money rolls in.

I think I would arrange it with my products at the top as well.

IF I WERE ANDY, I think I would arrange it with my products at the top as well.

Silly me. You're not psychic, so you don't know that I mentally preface every statement I make with, "If I were Andy...", as in, "If I were Andy, there's another waffle for you when you're ready," or "If I were Andy, it's raining again, so don't forget your raincoat."

Actually AS's line of premium quality scissors will soon be right at the top, and it's about time, says I.

I'm so stiff about "Up On Hi" right now that I wouldn't do it, had I shears to peddle. APE is really living up to Andy's statement of purpose, and there's nothing on the site I wouldn't buy.
I've been slack on support APE, though; ben so poor for the last couple of years that the only APE purchase I've made was the Dukes' re-releases.

I know what I want for Christmas, though...

He probably wants the whole catalogue. It is just a supposition on my part, but he does seem to want everything. Except HARD WORK!

Along with capitalization to emphasize the humorous part of my post, I will now use emotikons to emulate good intentions.

Idea Embarassed Shocked Mr. Green Neutral Shhh!

Christ, there is WAY more happening on the backporch forum than on the APE forum!

The only thing the backporch forum is missing is Andy Partridge!

Not that he ever shows up on the APE forum...

I miss XTC.

And a Pony. Can we have a pony?
How about a couple of extra rooms? A patio where the guys could fart and spit? A studio where we could display art and post writing? A treehouse?
