For non-British fans, who may have been confused by the bands description of some Skylarking tracks as "figures on a Toytown landscape viewed from above", this, for me is what the album is about - a certain peculiar Englishness/Britishness - personified by the following charming clips:

Some tunes even have the legendary Rundgrenesque metronome, and one even has 'the six o'clock whistle' a la The Meeting Place!

Summer's Cauldron is a good one with lots of meaning to me when I was drowning in a job I hated with my love of summer and a good women to keep me afloat.

i often sneaked out of work to meet a girl in the park from the factory nextdoor to mine. we both had stuffy office jobs and a roll on the grass was a tonic to get you through the afternoon.

Yes, THE MEETING PLACE, is very WATCH WITH MOTHER. Half past one in the afternoon weekdays was a very special time all those years ago. Smile
