Sorry if I'm buttin' in, seems like P.A.'s taking a bit of a break so I thought I might stick my nose in for a second, if noone minds.

Ok, bit of a stretch here.

#1.) Going from dusty memory.
#2.) Prob'ly means nothing without singing the melody simultaneously but here goes...

The hint: One side of the best single, A + B sides considered, of all time IMO.

The hint #2 - Beatles

Amaj.
Emaj. (A-flat bass)
Bmin7
Esus7 (F-sharp bass)

I just finished watching the "Anthology" all over again and STILL can't get it.
I give up. What is it, Ivan?

That's a wee bit spooky, Jeff - not only am I clueless to what this song is, but I have also been overloading on the Anthology recently - can't get enough of it!

I give uo too, Ivan - what it is, mate?

Get ready to throw shit at me, you guys.

To the best of my memory, it's the intro and one of the many hooks from, "Paperback Writer".

That's why I mentioned that it'd prob'ly be worthless without singing the melody, as there are no instrumental tracks.

Sorry if I was inadvertantly overcryptic.

There are live Youtube clibs which show George Harrison playing chords under the harmonies on the "Paperback Writer" hook - I shall try to 'ave a look an' a listen - I bet you're right, though! Smile

I bet he is, too. I though maybe the last 2 chords were B9sus4, but I think he's closer.

Okay, so it's his turn again, right?

the differences between Bmin7, Esus7 (F# bass) and B9sus4 are small enough to invite confusion. if the real question is "what chord did george play" then then best answer would be in terms of tabs and tuning, and then you can name the chord as you like depending on your opinion as to which note represents the root, and how it is inverted, and so on.

I would have a turn, Jeff, but I don't think clues such as, 'it goes Der der-der dum' are quite what you are looking for.

Nonsense - that is clearly the intro gtr riff to 'Atomic' by Blondie! Smile

okay let's get back on track with one from xtc...

D/C
B2
Gm/B
A7sus

the intro, strictly speaking; the melody line introduces additional notes that change the color of the chords somewhat.
