You believe everything that you think? Have you some mental handicap that prevents you from thinking false statements, or speculating about the non-existent? Or is it that if you do think some such statement as 'Alma Cogan is still alive', you cannot avoid believing it?

I meant these questions with the utmost respect Herr Doktor. Please don't visit my nightmares.

Please, please, please don't encourage him.

Yes, it may be something like that, one or the other (I answer as frankly as possible, as your sincerity is giving me a nosebleed).
For example, some time ago, I lived near a village whose residents believed that the moon was a giant quail egg devoured by a wolf on a monthly basis. I knew that it was not a quail egg because I had already tried to make a half-eaten quail egg remain in the night sky, and it was not possible (the force counter to my intentions is called “gravity”). Assuming therefore that the whole story was some sort of rustic jape and wishing to play along, I remained in the forests, imitating a wolf (and I did indeed develop a liking for quail eggs, among other delicacies). Imagine my surprise when the villagers came to join me not with frivolity but with torches and pitchforks. Some people just cannot take a joke.
Much later, I was in Tokyo watching the first “moon-walk.” When I was told that it was not intended as “entertainment” but purported to be a direct electronic representation of actual events, I was outraged. It would have been absurd to believe in this “moon-walk.” That little box was much too small to contain full-grown “astronauts.” My companions laughed, especially Mishima, but I never could tell why he laughed. That was the year I became obsessed with Astro Boy, by the way.

I had to laugh when I read that, Mr. Mage. You seem to have me confused with Gordon Burn!

Oh. My sides.

I've never believed in the moonwalk either. There just HAD to be something in Michael Jackson's shoes!

But MJ is a freak of nature.

This thread's still going on? I've enjoyed reading your responses. You guys are so much deeper that I am. I wrote this on one of those days when I was feeling introspective, and it passed quickly. Smile
