Well bugger me! TW! How are you, love? By a large coincidence, I
bought the Duckworth Lewis platter just today: most enjoyable. How's it hanging, my dear old thing?

Maybe you dreamt it. Did the alarm clock go off just after you thought that?

Rolling Eyes

Looks like not being over keen on The Beatles is a war crime too far for some people. Mr. Green

It's a misdemeanour - disliking Steely Dan, however...Razz

For what it's worth, I'm not much of a Beatles fan m'self.

Okay. Seriously. You guys can't really do it, can you? You're just pulling my plonker, right? Right?

No fooling Spi, in posting a reply, when I click between words to position the cursor line, selecting an emoticon simply inserts a word surrounded by ::, so it shouldn't matter where it's placed.

The only other options I can think of are at the bottom of a post reply or in your profile. What are your settings for Smilies, BBCode or HTML?

No idea. How do I find that out?

If you post, or reply to a post, you will see those options listed to your lower left under the emoticon set. I think you can also change these in your profile.

It says:

"HTML is ON"

"BBCode is ON" (The 'BBCode' bit appears to be a link.)

"Smilies are ON"

Thre is, however a tick in the 'Disable HTML in this post' box.

Needless to say, I don't know what any of that means. I'm thicker than Huggo. Smile

i just quoted your text and moved the ":" and the ")" from the end of the line to the beginning, and there it is. usually the "disable smilies" box is checked (for, as you may have noticed, i don't use them), so for this post i unchecked it. maybe you need to just type the characters that produce the smilie. i don't know.

Well when you seemed to have disappeared, we had an election, Thomas......

And before you say anything, I wasn't allowed to stand.

Actually, same for me as spidermage. I'm just so used to copying and pasting and typing in the smily faces I don't think about it being that much of an issue. But yeah, If I move the cursor to a place in already typed text and click on a smilie it shows up at the end...

lemme check something...

Ah, in Explorer you can do it. I don't know about other browsers but I assume that's the issue here.

As a general rule Firefox kicks explorer's arse but it does have its own little problems.

Idea Aha! That must be it, Spas - I'm using Firefox.

I'm glad to know that it's not just me.

I guess that's the problem with having so many browsers available and non-standard coding possibilities. As far as I know, there are these browsers:

- Internet Explorer
- Firefox
- Google Chrome
- Opera
- Safari (Truzzi has reported issues with this one)

So far, I have only used the first two, but I don't use Firefox often.
Thanks Spastic for tracking down the issue.
