Anyone know what XTC's gear was - when they toured that is?

As in Dave played an arctic-white late 70's Fender Telecaster (he actually did but sold it a few years later) into a Boss CE-3 Analog chorus pedal and a Boss Analog DM-2 Delay pedal into a Fender Twin combo (but a more probable Marshall JCM-800 head and stack).

Anyone have anything??

Wow, so no one has any idea either?

You're just as in the dark about this as I am?

No one even knows what XTC's rider was back in the day?

That's just awful I say.

If you dig into the "All of Andy & Colin Reply" thread (in the first 'XTC related' category, info moved from the old Idea forum) I believe Andy goes into great detail concerning his live gear set-up.

Thanks Jeff.

He actually mentions his current-situation (which is very more-is-more).

I've only heard XTC ever talk about their post Mummer-gear. Ugh.

As far as I'm aware, Bill, Andy played either his Ibanez Artist or a tobacco sunburst Les Paul through an MXR chorus into a Marshall half stack, which I think might have been the first of the Master Volume (JMP Master Lead MkII or whatever they're called) ones which, after largely cosmetic changes, became the JCM 800's. (I mainly use one of the 50w 2x12 combo's of that ilk, the same type beloved of John McGeoch of Magazine and Scott Gorham out of Thin Lizzy). But I could be wrong........

I think I have also seen Colin using various basses (Fender Mustang, Precision and the legendary Epiphone Newport) and I have seen HH amps, amongst others I don't recognise/get a look at.

Dave always seemed to use a Strat or Tele through Marshalls similar to Andy, don't have any idea about effects pedals.

Thanks!

I pretty much knew about Andy's guitars. He also had a black Les Paul Standard "The Paul" (I call it his Sgt. Rock guitar as it had white Sgt. stripes on it) that was stolen on tour. He also had a black and white striped Fender guitar that's never discussed too much - it was around the D&W era. I think he's seen with it in the videos for "Hop" & "Nigel". Either it's a Fender Musicmaster or a Fender Bronco. Not sure which. Dave had a heavy late 70's arctic-white Tele which he sold that I'd love to know more about.

The late, great John McGeoch of Magazine/PIL/SATB used a guitar that looked an awful lot like an Ibanez Artist - but was actually a Yamaha SG1000.

MXR chorus you say? I know next to nothing about Dave and Andy's touring-era pedal choices. That's what I'm really interested to know about.

Yup that's the majority of Colin's lot. I've seen him with an Ampeg bass amp too.

They've always had very nice taste in gear (and always used it well).
