Time has been good to the music of The Posies and especially this record as a lot of people knocked it for its supposedly too heavy sound compared with earlier recordings.

Over the years AMAZING DISGRACE has become my favorite Posies cd surpassing the also fantastic FROSTING ON THE BEATER....Chock full of should have been hits such as Throwaway and Please Return It....As catchy as can be.

Abnormally Attracted to Sin - Tori Amos

...or rather Abnormally Rearranged to Sin

I spent the morning trimming and rearranging the latest Tori album.

Took out 6 songs and tweaked the order of what was left and this is what is left. It's much easier to take now.

Give
Welcome to England
Starling
Fast Horse
That Guy
500 Miles
Not Dying Today
Maybe California
Curtain Call
Fire to Your Plain
Ophelia

RICHARD THOMPSON - MIRROR BLUE

Not Richard Thompson’s best cd but does contain a number of good songs – I CAN’T WAKE UP TO SAVE MY LIFE, MINGUS EYES, I RIDE IN YOUR SLIPSTREAM and one classic I’M TAKING MY BUSINESS ELSEWHERE a tale of romantic rejection startling for the fact that Thompson can find humor in this situation….One of those songs that knocks the wind out of you….Great backing especially from the usually brilliant Pete Thomas on Drums.

I agree totally. I also love The Way That It Shows, sort of a less subtle take on the Taking My Business theme, with a ferocious solo.

My album of the day is:

Stargazer - Shelagh McDonald

From 1971. She began as a singer in Sandy Denny folk mode and then began writing songs and performing closer to early Joni Mitchell on her 2 solo works. Great voice, good songs, excellent backing and production, she dropped out the business after this neglected album.

I love this album to death. It's practically the only album I've been listening to the past two weeks.
