Don't know if anyone has mentioned these yet: Only registered users can see links on this forum! Register or Login on forum! | . Urges, Leipzig and Europa And The Pirate Twins were all Andy's producing aswell. The Flat Earth hasn't arrived yet, but The Golden Age Of Wireless remaster is a real treat. There's some free downloads if you're a member of the Thomas Dolby forum. _________________

Damn! I bought a disappointing reissue of "The Flat Earth" not long ago. Have you watched the concert on "Wireless"? Is it worth it? I may go for that one. _________________ I'm gonna get a replacement, because I'm so hip. |

Thomas Dolby, love him! I'll have to check those out when I have a bit more money, but sadly reissues are fairly low on my to buy list these days. Anyway looking forward to Humbug by Arctic Monkeys? I suppose it's a youth thing, but I saw them live in 2006 (first gig) and we'll be seeing them live again soon so I suppose they are a bit special to me. I can't think of anything else I'm buying this season.. Well, maybe the new reissue of Elvis from Mephis.. maybe. |

Just bought on a trip to Vintage Vinyl in St. Louis and at a used CD store in Dayton Ohio:
New CDs
Fleet Foxes - FLEET FOXES
I heard one song from the recent EP on my TV "alternative" music station and with the Forum chat on the disc, UNCUT calling it the CD of the year, and a neighbor music junkie 22 year old lauding it, I thought I'd check it out. I have a bland reaction to it - not sure I can like the vocals after a few songs.
(the album) - WILCO
Sounds decent, though I haven't yet gotten grabbed by it in comparison to my reaction to some earlier discs. Anyway, I need to give it more listens, if I can stop listening to....
Meet the Eels - EELS
It was a good price for a 24 disc CD w/DVD and, what with the Forum chat on them, I thought I'd check them/him out. Really Interesting stuff and perfect for my car stereo, where I listen to most of my music, because it craves more attention than music while reading/computering.
used CDs
Heyday - THE CHURCH
I only have Starfish and Gold Afternoon Fix, so its about time I picked up the prior CD, which someone on here, maybe Miles, really liked. So far, I like it, familiar sounding and a few more non-Kilby songs, I think. I'll give it time to see if it ranks with Starfish, a big fave of mine.
Best of Lemonheads -THE LEMONHEADS
A replacement CD for a valuable member of my rotation. My wife and kids always liked it too.
Basher: Best of Nick Lowe - NICK LOWE
Another replacement CD for a valuable member of my library and again, one that my wife and kids liked so it always got play on family trips. Our dachshund likes it too.
Hunkpapa - THROWING MUSES
Had to try them out sometime and for $2 - how can I miss. Doesn't grab me so far, though I seem to like the two Tanya songs (the Colin to Kristin's Andy?) best.
the Hour of Bewilderbeast - BADLY DRAWN BOY
Hasn't grabbed me yet.
(the best of) - NEW ORDER
Really like some of the guitar driven stuff, but the drum machine dance mix stuff gets old after awhile. Maybe if I was at the Hacienda with a little x. I play the first five or six songs alot, but only one or two from the rest of the 12 songs. _________________ "a little song, a little dance, a little seltzer down your pants," |

It must have been me It remains one of my favs, from the end of their early period. I love Myrrh with the building chiming guitars, Tantilized, Tristesse and Roman especially. Hope you like it.
Finally got Children Of Nuggets, which has been getting a lot of play. That led me to get The Wondermints s/t and their "Bali" cds. They really remind me of Jellyfish a great deal, which is a good thing in my book. _________________ I know what it's like to be Peter Fonda. |

I could listen to "Once Around The Block" from this album until my hair falls out and not get tired of it. If Damon Gough, Jason Falkner and the late Elliot Smith could have gotten together to form a songwrtiting trust, I would have been in heaven. Melancholy Pop music would never have been the same. |

Oh my god! Let's see here.
St. Vincent - Actor
Pretty good. I like Marry Me lots better.
Vampire Weekend
Awesome! I bought this after all the hype that was generated last year. I was very surprised at how good this was. I am looking forward to their next album.
New Buffalo - Somewhere, Anywhere
Nice quiet relaxing kind of music. Discovered her on my Bat For Lashes Pandora station. Which brings me to---
Bat For Lashes - Two Suns
Album of the year for me so far! My favorite music discovery this year along with.........
Metric - Fantasies
I am glad this group is getting more popular attention. They're a lot better than a lot of those pretentious arty Canadian bands out right now. (Well to me anyways.) _________________ You got a lot of money but you can't afford the freeway.

I'm thinking about getting Actor too, from what I've heard it's really good. I've been debating whether or not to St. V live alone or w/Bird, but the tickets for Bird are not the greatest and a bit pricey for an indie act I think. I'm also really looking forward to Systems Officer's full length release this september, yes! |

Today, I got:
Phoenix - Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix
Only listened to it once, I think it's pretty good. I bought it after listening to the song "1901" a zillion times.
Grizzly Bear - Veckatimest
So awesome. I highly recommend this album. Favoritething reviewed this album a few posts above, and I think he reviewed pretty accurately. A kind of spacey, dreamy kind of album. It's very pretty as well. _________________ You got a lot of money but you can't afford the freeway.

I second that on Grizzly Bear....Love the harmonies
Tremendously enjoying THE LIBERTY OF NORTON FOLGATE by Madness....Their first cd in a decade or so and only the second since the mid 80's with the original line-up including keyboardist/founder Mike Barson.
As hard as it is to imagine, I genuinly think that much of this record reaches the same creative peak of their KEEP MOVING (my favorite Madness album) RISE AND FALL days.
Great songs here....That Close, On the Town Sugar and Spice....There is a version that comes with an extra cd which is the version I have....That is the one to look for. _________________ author of THE ABSENT

Went to a used CD store today! Found some great shit (pardon my french).
Laughing Stock - Talk Talk
Blur - Parklife
Mezzanine - Massive Attack
Trainspotting - Original Soundtrack
All Over The Place - Bangles
I'm so excited. I wanted all of these albums for a long time and now I've got them. I actually owned the Blur CD at one time, I lost it or my brother stole it....I can finally listen to "Clover Over Dover" again. My biggest find was the Talk Talk CD. Who knew I could find a treasure like that at a used CD store in Battle Creek! Plus they were 2.50 each! A steal. _________________ You got a lot of money but you can't afford the freeway.
