Where do you get the idea that an album of any kind is in the works ?

I suspect that there is, But I have no direct evidence or proof.

This thread has comments as if you know with certainty some album is being made. Would you mind explaining where that belief comes from and what you know ?

As to what to call it! I personally believe that if XTC were to release an album now it would be by far the most succesful thing for them ever as they have finally begun to achieve the legendary reputation they deserve.

I hope against all hope that COlin Moulding would contribute two or three songs and play bass on a couple of Andys making it a real bonafide XTC--they wouldn't really have to be friends they could do most of it via remote email or delivery service shuttling the master recordings or duplicates back and forth to each others studio's probably only having to lay eyes on each other a couple of times.

I just recorded a new song with an old bandmate and thats what we did--three of us actually emailing our parts back and forth hardly ever saw each other

If COlin isint there but Dave Gregory is thats a tough call-maybe they could call it the dukes instead

Where does news of this new album originate

Sure in a perfect world Andy and Colin and Dave would turn in that sparkling new xtc album every
christmas!

But the reality is people in the know have alluded and even flat out said that there will be more
conventional pop song recordings from Andy

One person even told me about ANdy playing some new
gems for him. The person clearly was reliable.

Thats why I came here I thought you guys would know more than me and i would learn something!

Also I wanted to find that tiny tin train song!

As we all know XTC was about the best thing since the Who or the BEatles--probably as good or better than anyone one else in their time(XTC that is)

they never got the public accolades --the sales or the money they should have!

they probably have a little money--but the irony is with that beautiful back catalogue and those gorgeous songs and albums--they have by this time become legendary

if they were to do something now they would probably make more money on one album than all the albums they ever did put together

BUT----Colin and Andy have problems with each other---But Andy, COlin and Dave those three guys if they did while they are still young! WOW

All I know is I heard Andy has some gorgeous classic songs!---If COlin somehow heals the breech this album could be xtc if its just ANdy and Dave maybe the name will be something else----

Whatever it is--there are great songs ready to go--its possible they are already recorded

So what the hold up is I dont know
but eventually we will get it--thats what I was told

There are those on this forum that could really give us some good info! But they aren't speaking! But I know for a fact they are on this forum sometimes.

It is frustrating though when you have questions about "new Music" and there is just silence and minor clues!

Firstly, Whobeatle why arent you XTCwhobeatle? Seeems more complete.

I want to say in light of your comments that Andy is recording a new album of original songs and colin and Dave will be partly invloved in it - and it will be out in 2009. Unfortunatly, although I want to say this there is no basis in fact for me to do so but it was nice to dream for a moment.

I never said that there was a new quasi xtc album coming out what I said for the record is this

Someone who I think is very trustworthy and in a position to know! Who visits this forum as well!

Said he heard Andy play or play a recording of--some fantastic songs! that would one day be released--I don't want to say word for word what the person said and give away their identity

But the understanding I have is just that--Andy Partridge has some great songs--I dont know if they are recorded or not---the person while describing the tunes used the term--XTC--whether that was a slip of the tongue or literal (I don't think it was literal) I think the person meant gorgeous pop songs by Andy that haven't been released and would be in some fashion at some point

Whether Andy is sick of the music biz or waiting for a good offer or waiting for some other reason I don't know about all that--I just know he has some good songs! NO surprise there! SO you know Van Gogh painted Scorsese directs films-Michelangelo did frescos---so ya know I assume Mr Partridge will make more records whether the general public realizes how good he is or not---they have forums like this for recording artists that are abominable--but it just happens this guy is one of the best that ever lived--in the history of rock!--certainly one of the very best of his generation! I just think he's good at it or I wouldn't care! He is very very good at making pop records--an writing what are often breathtaking songs

The irony is I think even in this terrible enviornment for records---I think he could make a finacial killing now because all these years later people have begun to realize how good that work is
