Vinyl is in fact the best way to hear music (minus any excess surface noise). In the 1980's the lowest common denominator embraced cassettes (I did as a child - but was soon schooled). But you couldn't get all those rare imports in any other way besides vinyl (then CD). So I now have a collection of 7" singles in a ballpark of 300 or so. LP/12"s in the thousands and about a dozen or so 10"s. And thousands of CDs. I adore vinyl but hope I don't start to resent an increase in prices, if such a thing occurs.
NSR - Impressing women with your vinyl collection you say? Are these women...dudes? No, no, I jest! I only say this because the only people I've ever known to remotely care about vinyl are in fact, guys (and not just to create the illusion of having things in common as in the "oooh, wow this is soo cool" sort of bs). But truly impressing women with a vinyl collection? That is in and of itself impressive.
Word on the street also has it that women don't care for comic books or action figures either.
