I may quit my job and offer myself as a handmaiden to Drew Brees tomorrow. |

Ever have a dream that has an an "end" that ties up things so nicely that it makes you want to wake up because the story is done? That's what happened to me last night, I don't remember what the dream was anymore but I remember starting to wake up and fighting it and trying desperately to continue the dream in order to keep sleeping. _________________ ...in my pants |

Spas, I guess you'll face the Yankees. For whatever reason I thought NY would play Boston first. So...good luck with the Yankees. _________________ Yours sincerely, wasting away. |

You silly person, thinking the Tigers could protect a 3 Run lead.
When the day began, I expected they'd lose, I didn't expect that they'd do it in such a painful manner.
!3 innings, just to lose. So many wasted chances, stupid Tigers. They deserved to lose considering how bad they played this month. _________________ ...in my pants |

Still, it was a great game. Nobody will give the Twins a chance in hell to beat NY. _________________ Yours sincerely, wasting away. |

it's hard to know who to root for, or against: sworn enemies for the last 100 years versus sworn enemies for only the last 25 or so.
didn't the tigers just set a record for the longest time in first place only to lose the division/pennant? maybe just the american league... |

The one I read today was that they're the only team to lose a pennant with a 3 game lead with 4 games left, although that doesn't count the play-off game.
I remember being so happy when they swept the Rays... that was before losing 5 out of 6 to the freaking Royals.
But yeah, I guess I'll still root for the Twins over the Yankees. I think I might root for the Rockies overall. If you can't root for the Tigers as the (s)crappy underdogs I guess you can go for the next best option.
I wonder if Rick Porcello is safely Rookie of the Year though. Youngest Pitcher to reach 15 wins in their Rookie season, that has to count for a lot. _________________ ...in my pants |

I must not be doing it right then because all I ever end up with is a pointy stick. _________________ Felicity said there was no electricity.. Emily, no chemistry.. |

What book is it that describes a character purposely whittling a stick into the shape of a smaller stick? ... or was it bones into the shape of smaller bones? I remember loving the description at the time but now I can't remember what book it is.
I don't think it was a Hitchhikers book but it might be... maybe when Ford and Arthur were trapped in prehistoric Earth.
...which reminds me, I should reread those books before reading the Colfer one. It's been many years since I've read them.
I never got around to hearing the Quandary and Quintessential Phases of the radio adaptations either, maybe I'll just listen to all of the Radio adaptaions instead....
or,
Read the books
Listen to the radio series's
Watch the TV series
Watch the movie
peruse the comic adaptions.
....while I whittle a stick into the shape of a smaller stick. _________________ ...in my pants |

today i uninstalled my trial version of visual studio 2008, along with my trial version of the intel visual fortran compiler, because we bought a license for the real thing! this compiler does many optimizations that my old compaq compiler didn't, and more importantly it includes processor-specific optimizations, to better take advantage of intel's quad-core chips (not to mention intel 64-bit architecture). this will speed up my transient analysis code considerably, which is timely because a new phase of the thames tunnel work will be starting soon.
working with this new compiler has compelled me to think about the subtleties of floating point arithmetic more deeply than before. woo hoo! |
