I don't put too much stock into what Andy says regarding what is good/bad regarding XTC. About other things, most certainly, but not XTC.

First off he's simply too close to the source to get a unbiased fact-driven informed opinion.

Secondly some of his favorite songs (..."Rook") are far away from being mine.
I think it's writer's pride in some cases. In others...?

And he's become quite the grumpy old man as of late. You can get that anywhere.

I find all the "animal" songs slightly tricky - but then I did have a bad experience with a crocodile when I was 5...
